Honoria Starbuck
Exhibition • January 10–February 7, 2026
Honoria Starbuck draws inspiration from the history of art, beginning with prehistoric cave paintings. Using art history as a foundation, she explores color, shape, narrative, and the endless possibilities of artistic materials and their interactions.
An active participant in the global Mail Art Network since 1989, Starbuck has exhibited her work in art festivals, Mail Art congresses, museums, galleries, and private venues worldwide, including the Venice Biennale.
Her teaching philosophy centers on energizing students by connecting with their interests, such as video games, fashion, and animation. She guides students in exploring contemporary trends alongside art historical examples, helping them uncover lessons that align with their creative goals.
Starbuck’s artistic process embraces chance and unexpected connections, informed by art historical contexts, contemporary experiences, and material experimentation. Her works are gestural and calligraphic, incorporating watercolor, India ink, pastel, collage, graphite, rubber stamps, text, and acrylics. She also employs digital drawing tools, such as Paper53 on the iPad, to expand her creative practice.
